2010 Case Study Competion is CLOSED!

BACKGROUND

The fifth edition of the Getting the Message Out (GMO) classroom kit is currently at your school. The content of the kit meets many curriculum outcomes in Career Development 2201 and Enterprise Education 3205. It assists students in realizing the wealth of enterprising and career development opportunities that exist in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The GMO Case Study Competition is an opportunity for students of these courses to identify a business in their community, research it, interview the owner, and profile that business in a style similar to that use in the classroom kit. The winner of the 2010 Case Study Competition was Rebecca Hollett, a student from Holy Heart High School in St. John's. Her case study about Iceberg Quest Ocean Tours Inc, in St. John's will be featured in the next edition of the classroom kit. Rebecca received a laptop and iPod touch as an award for her efforts. As the sponsoring teacher, Ms. Margo Connors also received a laptop computer and her school received a desktop computer.

As part of the 2010 competition GMO added awards for second and third place submissions. The second place student prize went to Nathan Finlay of Stella Maris Academy in Trespassy. Third place student prize was awarded to Nina Van Nierkerk of Corner Brook Regional High. Both these students received an iPod Touch.
